Deploy Office 365 software with the Office Deployment Tool

For large companies or for companies that do not have a good internet connection you may want to deploy office 365 software from a local server rather than downloading it from the internet for each computer. To deploy office 365 from a local server using the office deployment tool, please follow these steps:

1. Create a new folder share on whichever local server your want to deploy the software from and ensure that domain computers have read/execute rights to the shared folder.

2. Download the office deployment tool on the relevant local server from either of the following locations:

3. Run the downloaded executable and extract the files to the folder share created in step 1.

4. Navigate to the folder share created in step 1 and edit the configuration.xml file using notepad. Replace the content with the following data:

<Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
<Language ID="en-us" />
</Product>

</Add>

</Configuration>

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE PRODUCT ID ABOVE IS FOR ENTERPRISE LICENSED SOFTWARE ONLY. IF THE CLIENT HAS A BUSINESS LICENSE THEN THE PRODUCT ID MUST BE CHANGED TO "O365BusinessRetail"

5. Save the xml file as something like configuration2.xml

6. To download the software, open the run command and enter the following and press enter:

\\servername\foldershare\setup.exe /download \\servername\foldershare\configuration2.xml

(Change the servername and foldershare entries to match the relevant paths on your network)

7. To create a batch file for clients software installs, open notepad and enter the following:

\\servername\foldershare\setup.exe /configure \\servername\foldershare\configuration2.xml

(Change the servername and foldershare entries to match the relevant paths on your network)

8. Save the file as a .bat file and store it in the same shared folder created in step 1.

9. To install the software on a client computer, navigate to the shared folder created in step 1 and then double click on the batch file created in steps 7/8.
